Brenda Shaughnessy is the author of three collections of poetry, most recently Our Andromeda (Copper Canyon) which was one of The New York Times’ 100 Notable Books of 2013 and a finalist for the Griffin Prize. Her other books are Human Dark with Sugar (Copper Canyon) winner of the James Laughlin Award and finalist for the NBCC Award, and Interior with Sudden Joy (FSG.) Her poems have appeared in Best American Poetry, Harpers, McSweeney’s, The Nation, The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Yale Review, The Penguin Book of Twentieth Century Poetry, and elsewhere. Her reviews, essays, and other prose have recently appeared in The New York Times Book Review, The Los Angeles Times, and O Magazine. She is a 2013 Guggenheim Foundation Fellow and Assistant Professor of English and in the M.F.A. Program at Rutgers University at Newark. She lives in Brooklyn, New York with her family.
