Joyelle McSweeney is the author of seven books of poetry, prose, and plays, most recently Percussion Grenade (Fence Books) and Dead Youth, or, the Leaks (Litmus) , which won the first Leslie Scalapino Prize for Innovative Women Playwrights. Her critical book, The Necropastoral: Poetry, Media, Occults, is forthcoming from the University of Michigan Press Poets on Poetry Series . She runs the international poetry press Action Books and is the Director of the MFA program at the University of Notre Dame.

Timing: The poet is invited to submit 10-15 pages by January 10, along with a letter introducing herself or himself and her work/project to me.
I will respond with a note, feedback, reading suggestions, my thoughts about the potential of this writing for a full-length MS,  etc. Then the poet may submit a complete MS in the month of March and I will  respond with a thorough letter of critique and response with suggested edits (if necessary), a paragraph suggesting writers whose work may be seen as 'in dialogue' with this poet's, as well as a description of the presses which publish this kind of work.

Form of Response: Two letters plus hand written comments on MS, scanned back to poet.
