Nicholas Delbanco is the Robert Frost Distinguished University Professor of English at the University of Michigan, where he directs the Hopwood Awards Program. He is the author of twenty-nine books of fiction and non-fiction; his most recent work of non-fiction is The Art of Youth: Crane, Carrington, Gershwin, and the Nature of First Acts; his forthcoming novel (January, 2015) is titled The Years. Together with the late John Gardner, he co-founded The Bennington Writing Workshops; he has served as judge for, among others, the National Book Award in Fiction and The Pulitzer Prize. His textbooks include The Sincerest Form: Writing Fiction by Imitation, and Literature: Craft & Voice (w. Alan Cheuse), both published by McGraw-Hill.
