The CAREGIFTED community is invited to join poet Heather HcHugh this Thursday, October 30, for a lecture on "The Art of Meaning," at the University of Washington Seattle campus. Presented by UW Libraries, Heather will speak as a recipient of the 2014-2015 Maxine Cushing Gray Distinguished Writers Award winner.
When you experience a lecture by Heather it is unclear, as The Stranger puts it, whether she is "reading poetry or speaking freely because the constant wordplay of her everyday language is so delightfully over the top, like an exquisite costume."
The event is free, but registration is required -- CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.
Heather retired from UW this year as the Milliman Distinguished Writer-in-Residence and Pollock Professor of Creative Writing, but she continues to lecture and speak widely. Her accolades are too numerous to list, but we love to brag about her 2009 MacArthur “Genius Grant” for poetry, which she used to found CAREGIFTED. Based in Seattle, CAREGIFTED is a nonprofit that awards respite getaways to long-term caregivers of the severely disabled.
